Had a lovely walk along a snow covered Great Allegheny Passage. By the time we finished up the hike, things had warmed up and the snow had disappeared.
The ride of your life awaits.
I have been using my iPhone lately to blog things as they happen. While that makes it easier to post, it does reduce the quality from the photos I take with my real camera. So here are a few from my real camera from our Santa train trip today.
Note the beautiful barn near Helmstetter’s Curve. A short time ago, it burned down and the community rallied around the farmer and helped raise funds to rebuild the barn. Glad to see things have been restored.
We took a nice trip on the Scenic Western Maryland Railroad from Cumberland up to Frostburg and back. It is a genuine coal powered steam train.
This time of the year it is the Santa Train. Santa comes through and hands out candy canes.
The train shares space with The Great Allegheny Passage, including a tunnel, the Brush Tunnel. I can’t imagine how smoky it would be if you got caught in the tunnel with the train.
They are also working on ways to transport bikes which would make for a lovely trip. Let the train drive you up the mountain and then coast back down to Cumberland.
